Miss World Title Holders of the 80s: My Top 5 Favourites
I fell in love with international pageants in 199, thanks to Miss World. It was also the year South Africa was re-admitted, so it was extra special. But the 80s were interesting with one "abdication", crowns for tiny islands, the staging of the first final outside of the UK and a bit of an uphill battle for the organization with the changing landscape of pageantry.
Let's take a look at the winners of Miss World in the 80s:
Miss World 1980: Gabriella Brum (Germany) - RESIGNED
Miss World 1980: Kimberley Santos - Guam
Miss World 1981: Pilin Leon - Venezuela
Miss World 1982: Marisela Alvarez - Dominican Republic
Miss World 1983: Sarah-Jane Hutt - United Kingdom
Miss World 1984: Astrid Herrera - Venezuela
Miss World 1985: Hólmfríður "Hófí" Karlsdóttir - Iceland
Miss World 1986: Giselle Laronde - Trinidad and Tobago
Miss World 1987: Ulla Weigerstorfer - Austria
Miss World 1988: Linda Petursdottir - Iceland
Miss World 1989: Agneta Kreglicka - Poland
And now my top 5 favourites:
5th: UK: Sarah-Jane Hutt - the last time the UK won and I find Sarah Jane to be absolutely lovely
4th: Venezuela: Astrid Herrera - What a stunning woman!
3rd: Trinidad and Tobago: Giselle Laronde - They have only produced stunning international winners!
2nd: Iceland: Linda Petursdottir - She has been invited back several times, so I think she was a favourite of the organization and definitely a favourite of mine!
And my favourite Miss World of the 1980s is AGNETA KREGLICKA FROM POLAND
