From Poland to… Eye on You: NaMakau Nawa - Zambia

 In this series, I will highlight some candidates who competed at the pageant organization I used to work for. Now this one is tricky because I was lucky enough to interact with most of the candidates (not in person because of my personal choice) but I met some around the world and interacted with many of them online too. I am biased and I found all the girls I encountered so special and will always support them in their future endeavours. Because I am doing it for other pageants, I shall do it for this one too. Continuing with a lady who placed in the top 24: 

NaMakau Nawa - Zambia 

At only 20 years of age, the incredible NaMakau Nawa from Zambia was one of the youngest candidates to represent her country in Poland last year. But that surely did not stop her from achieving great things. Her first major achievement was becoming one of the top 6 of the on camera interview portion of the competition. 



The statuesque stunner continued to turn up the heat upon arrival and it was during the Top Model segment that she really slayed. First it was announced that she was the winner from Africa and during the final show, she was declared the overall winner, making her the first Zambian to qualify for the next round of competition. Unfortunately, her competition ended in the top 24 but she was awarded the Miss Africa title. 

Now being so young and already so good, of course I would not want her to stop competing. I do recommend taking at least 2-3 years off. So where would I like to see her next? 



My top choices for her: 

1. Miss World: Miss World is Miss World and in Africa, the MW brand is strong, respected and trusted. That’s why this would be my first choice for her. However, she will have to work on her social project, from now on already. 

2. Miss Universe: I am so hesitant to recommend MU in its current state. But, who knows, maybe in 2-3 years it will be under new, credible leadership. Then it will be a great alternative.

Why Pageants Became the Love of My Life - PROLOGUE

THE WARMEST: Zozi blew me away because she was the warmest and  most naturally charasmatic reigning Miss Universe I met The Beauty of How a Moment Can Last a Lifetime  I remember the first time I "saw" a pageant. The year was 1987. The channel was TV1 if memory serves me and I only got a brief glimpse of something that caught my attention immediately and left such a huge impression that it still remains with me to this day. It was the first ever (I found out later) live broadcast of Miss South Africa and I could only take in something that spoke to me for probably less than a couple of minutes before the sitter changed the channel. But it STUCK and ended become perhaps the greatest love of my life.  A MOMENT IN TIME: The year was 1987,  I don't remember much  but I  remember a few glimpses of the middle of the show and  I can still see it so clearly. Why Pageants Became the Love of My Life - A Celebration of Strength

 PREVIOUSLY:  Prologue IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME: It is a pity that hindsight is sometimes the  best teacher but pageants represented what I saw in my mother when I was   young and the good things I wanted for her!  Hindsight is such a wonderful thing - beautiful, sweet, inspirational but also usually a bit painful without the extreme sting of the deep, overwhelming hurt that you might have felt at the time. I find people who say that you should just look ahead a bit misguided because, you see, without hindsight there can be no reflection.
