Women Who Made Me Proud in 2025: Mỹ Anh Trịnh - Miss Earth Water 2025

Earlier this year, I had one 2 hour long conversation with the lovely Trinh My Anh, who was due to represent Vietnam at Miss Earth 2025. I was immediately taken by her beauty, determination and drive. Sometimes when you talk to someone, you just know they have loads of potential and I realised for such a young and relatively new face in the industry, there's so much going on already. 


I had a feeling that she would represent Vietnam extremely well and so she did. She was commanding on the stage, so I figured it would be easy for her to progress to the Question and Answer rounds, which she admitted were her biggest fear. It's not always fair that we expect fluent English answers from non-native speakers. 

I always believe that spontaneity and the ability to communicate hold a stronger power where final answers are concerned. After all, native speakers hold a greater advantage. So I was very proud of her for answering her questions in English and I think she did quite well. The final top 4 question was actually really challenging. 
When the results came, I thought she was given a fair placement and I was delighted for her. There's no doubt that the best is yet to come for her, so I hope she keeps going!

THE WARMEST: Zozi blew me away because she was the warmest and  most naturally charasmatic reigning Miss Universe I met The Beauty of How a Moment Can Last a Lifetime  I remember the first time I "saw" a pageant. The year was 1987. The channel was TV1 if memory serves me and I only got a brief glimpse of something that caught my attention immediately and left such a huge impression that it still remains with me to this day. It was the first ever (I found out later) live broadcast of Miss South Africa and I could only take in something that spoke to me for probably less than a couple of minutes before the sitter changed the channel. But it STUCK and ended become perhaps the greatest love of my life.  A MOMENT IN TIME: The year was 1987,  I don't remember much  but I  remember a few glimpses of the middle of the show and  I can still see it so clearly. Why Pageants Became the Love of My Life - A Celebration of Strength

 PREVIOUSLY:  Prologue IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME: It is a pity that hindsight is sometimes the  best teacher but pageants represented what I saw in my mother when I was   young and the good things I wanted for her!  Hindsight is such a wonderful thing - beautiful, sweet, inspirational but also usually a bit painful without the extreme sting of the deep, overwhelming hurt that you might have felt at the time. I find people who say that you should just look ahead a bit misguided because, you see, without hindsight there can be no reflection.
