EUROPE'S COUNTRY OF THE YEAR 2025 IS POLAND

Europe did not have the best year in 2025 but there were a few exceptions, like winning one of the Big 4. The Old Continent is just not that attractive for pageant owners who favour profit over merit, so that gives European queens a disadvantage. However, there are also other factors involved and often the candidates from Europe just don't spend enough time and energy in being intentional as they compete. And for 2025... 

POLAND HAS REASON TO BE PROUD AS THEY ARE EUROPE'S COUNTRY OF THE YEAR 



1. POLAND

Wow, what a surprise... but then again no. Poland has the capability and gorgeous and strong women, so I am just happy to see that they are doing well, courtesy of the Miss Polonia Organization, sending great women to represent the country in the Big 4. Poland's main achievement was when Maja Klajda was named the 2nd runner-up to Miss World and Miss World Europe. I loved watching her showing emotion and looking so happy to be there. Polish beauty queens are learning! Elsewhere, Miss Earth appreciated Justyna Roguska, who advanced to the top 12. 



2. CZECH REPUBLIC 

Just to prove that the Miss Czech Republic Organization's first major crown was not a fluke, the Czech Republic's new reason to celebrate came when the 25th edition of Miss Earth was one by Natalie Puskinova.  Tatana Makarenko and her team know to prepare candidates and their victory at Miss Earth was really well-deserved and I expect more titles to come soon. 



3. (TIE) NETHERLANDS 

Netherlands had a really good year actually. They placed in 3 out of the Big 4. It was only in Miss World where they did not advance. The super prepared and super stunning Nathalie Mogbelzada made it to the top 30 of Miss Universe, Sanne-Esmee Walstra placed in the top 25 and the lovely Serena Darder had the added bonus of getting the bragging rights to say that she was the lone European to advance to the top 20 of Miss International. 



3. (TIE) UKRAINE 

Ukraine had a relatively good year and that mostly came from two great achievements. At both Miss World 2025 and Miss Earth 2025 they made the top 8 thanks to Mariia Melnychenko and Maria Zheliaskova.

Why Pageants Became the Love of My Life - PROLOGUE

THE WARMEST: Zozi blew me away because she was the warmest and  most naturally charasmatic reigning Miss Universe I met The Beauty of How a Moment Can Last a Lifetime  I remember the first time I "saw" a pageant. The year was 1987. The channel was TV1 if memory serves me and I only got a brief glimpse of something that caught my attention immediately and left such a huge impression that it still remains with me to this day. It was the first ever (I found out later) live broadcast of Miss South Africa and I could only take in something that spoke to me for probably less than a couple of minutes before the sitter changed the channel. But it STUCK and ended become perhaps the greatest love of my life.  A MOMENT IN TIME: The year was 1987,  I don't remember much  but I  remember a few glimpses of the middle of the show and  I can still see it so clearly. Why Pageants Became the Love of My Life - A Celebration of Strength

 PREVIOUSLY:  Prologue IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME: It is a pity that hindsight is sometimes the  best teacher but pageants represented what I saw in my mother when I was   young and the good things I wanted for her!  Hindsight is such a wonderful thing - beautiful, sweet, inspirational but also usually a bit painful without the extreme sting of the deep, overwhelming hurt that you might have felt at the time. I find people who say that you should just look ahead a bit misguided because, you see, without hindsight there can be no reflection. And reflection is something that guides you towards a deeper understanding of yourself, others, your environment, what's trivial and what's not and just life in general, I would argue.  Now, as I am writing, I am also discovering that yes I usually proclaim that this year it will be 35 years of pageants being integral to my existence.
