Big 4 Queen of the Year 2025: 2nd Place - Miss International

In 2nd place for my Big 4 Queen of the Year, I have the lovely Miss International 2025, Catalina Duque from Colombia. I chose to put her in this place, and it was hard to choose between her and Miss Earth, was because I feel that there's still so much to learn about her and I feel a very gentile but strong presence that I admire. 

Catalina won the most prestigious title in her country, Senorita Colombia, in 2024. That gave her a full year to prepare to compete for the Miss International title. Prepraration is more often than not the key to success and in her case it definitely was a factor because from my perspective she seemed at ease throughout the competition. It was like she had this inner calm that made her presence undeniable. 

In her national pageant, she represented Antioquia and became the first winner from this department to win in 28 years. She is the fourth woman from Colombia to win the title. (Interesting fact: The very first winner in 1960 was also from Colombia, the iconic Stella Marques Araneta, who owns the Binibini Pilipinas Pageant. Though she is no longer actively involved, her delegate representing the Philippines, placed 5th in the pageant.) 

I look forward to learning more about this year's gorgeous Miss International as her reign progresses and I know that she has already made her country proud. May she be a fantastic asset to the Miss International Organization.

THE WARMEST: Zozi blew me away because she was the warmest and  most naturally charasmatic reigning Miss Universe I met The Beauty of How a Moment Can Last a Lifetime  I remember the first time I "saw" a pageant. The year was 1987. The channel was TV1 if memory serves me and I only got a brief glimpse of something that caught my attention immediately and left such a huge impression that it still remains with me to this day. It was the first ever (I found out later) live broadcast of Miss South Africa and I could only take in something that spoke to me for probably less than a couple of minutes before the sitter changed the channel. Why Pageants Became the Love of My Life - A Celebration of Strength

 PREVIOUSLY:  Prologue IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME: It is a pity that hindsight is sometimes the  best teacher but pageants represented what I saw in my mother when I was   young and the good things I wanted for her!  Hindsight is such a wonderful thing - beautiful, sweet, inspirational but also usually a bit painful without the extreme sting of the deep, overwhelming hurt that you might have felt at the time. I find people who say that you should just look ahead a bit misguided because, you see, without hindsight there can be no reflection.
